The first litter of puppies and mom Lotus were brought to the house in the beginning of January. We knew we were not quite ready but we had no other option to help this beautiful little mom Lotus (now Roo) and her 5 little puppies. Since then we have hosted Panda and her 8 babies, Indiana and 5 babies, 8 Veggie pups, the 9 Car puppies and now the 8 Artist puppies. Taking care of 42 babies is no small feat so we are extremely grateful for the hard work of our local volunteers for helping take care of all these babies. Of course we will always prefer to use fosters, but this space helps immensely until the puppies are ready for fosters.
Our first big completed project is the cat house and we are so excited to have brought 6 adult cats to this space. The property already had a small building in the back which we knew right away would be a great space for our cats. We still needed to make a few modifications including a Catio to make this space purrrfect. In March, this project was completed and we were able to move cats who had been patiently waiting in paid boarding. In the meantime cats Waylon, Malibu and Wrangler were adopted and Cheese, Smokey and Moonpie joined us. This space is such an improvement and a great opportunity for the cats to socialize with many volunteers stopping by for feedings and play time. In the future we hope to expand this area and turn it into Aruba’s first “Catfe”.
We are of course so excited to now have a space for the supporters of our organization to visit and meet our animals. As you can probably imagine, running this home is a huge undertaking which we are just beginning to set up. If you are visiting in Aruba and are interested in visiting our new home base, please email us at Info@sgtpeppersfriends.com so we can arrange in advance. We hope to someday have this space open to visitors and volunteers to come by and help socialize and meet our animals every day of the week. In the meantime, check in here for the latest updates on our Sgt. Pepper’s Home!
